The card game is at Death’s house, even though it is literally the gloomiest place imaginable. War always complained about that, but then, she really liked things flashy and bright. Explosions and all that. Kind of her thing

And I just knew, somehow, that Death would hold his games in the basement, to make the experience more miserable.

none of the rest like losing, and that’s all they’ve ever done.
For all the other three, all roads LEAD to Death, so they're really just byways on the longer journey.
