Movie Reviews - On DVD & in theaters

Jan 10, 2007 05:52

Okay, so even though I did one of these about a month ago now...well almost a month, it seems that I've let it slack a little too long :P So like my last movie review this is going to be kind of a massive movie review. Lots of things I've seen in theaters (most of which are coming onto DVD soon) or things I've been renting. And hey - like I've ( Read more... )

Okay I'm gonna do this from bottom up.

THE HOLIDAY- lovely movie that I went to see twice and plus the characters were so good. I'm actually glad you liked it. I dreaded you to say it was shite. Kate and Jack were so adorkable weren't they? And Jude's character with his children. <3 ( ... )

Oh don't apologize. I like long comments and look forward to them.

I can't believe you bought the score for THE HOLIDAY already. I need to save up and buy it next month cuz I exceeded my new online budget buying a few collectible items on ebay.
but I did buy my very own dvd of it. hehe. I'm a sap!

I finally saw The Illusionist and I totally agree that it was so slow that I got bored.

Hehe yeah I got the score already. I was frustrated one weekend cause I tried finding it in town - especially at a few places that I had gift cards and therefore wouldn't have to pay money out of pocket for it. But when no one in my area had it and something else came up I bought it for comfort :) Shopping theraphy is always a great excuse til I look at the check book.

Aww nice :D Don't feel too sappy, I'm going to buy it when it comes out *g* And I know people are going to look at me weird. Although, I get that anyways since I own some kid cartoons on DVD and then have God knows how many horror flicks ;)

Yay! Finally someone that agrees with me on The Illusionist. Most of my co-workers love it and I just cringe when they recommend it to people. I try and hide when customers ask me about it but I'm honest and say I didn't like it, but everyone else at the store did.

I had high hopes for The Descent after some pretty good reviews but walked out pretty disappointed. The ending was so stupid.

I love Oldboy. You have to see the entire trilogy. They're not straight up sequels, which I didn't know before watching Sympathy for Mr. Vengence. Great great movies.

If you saw Descent in theaters the ending on the DVD is a little different. Instead of the girl getting out she ends up getting stuck in the caves and all that, she has another vision of her daughter with a birthday cake and that's how the movie ends. Either ending is kind of a blah :P I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that's not wow'd by the movie.

As for Oldboy - yes :D I actually just bought Sympathy for Mr. Vengence from my work. My work doesn't have a copy to rent but had one to sell - how odd but whatever :) I haven't watched it yet but plan to and then I want to see Lady Vengence :D So definitely will see the whole trilogy.

Hey Lady,

I love your movie reviews. They're very helpful. We picked a few of these movies (The Descent and Lady in the Water) and I didn't even get a chance to see them!!!

I saw Crank in the theaters and that movie tripped me out so much. I need to pick it up tomorrow.

Oldboy was sooooo good! They have a collector's edition out now that looks like it's worth the money. I'm collecting the manga now and that's very good. I want to check out the director's other movies. If they're anything close to Oldboy that would be awesome.

I haven't seen The Illusionist yet but I think you will really enjoy The Prestige. That was one of my favorites of last year.

Your review of The Covenant had me rolling epecially the Street Fighter reference. *giggles*

Yay :D I'm glad to hear that you find them helpful :)

I saw that there was a special edition of Oldboy out. I'm trying to debate one which to get - the special one or the single one. I actually just picked up what I think is the first part of the trilogy (Sympathy for Mr. Vengence) but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. After that I want to get Lady Vengence as well cause I really enjoyed Oldboy and I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about the movies. It's actually nice to hear that some people on my friendslist have seen Oldboy *g*

but I think you will really enjoy The Prestige

I'm REALLY looking forward to watching it. It comes out on the 20th so I can rent it on the 15th if I'm doing my head right. So soon *bounces* That one looked so good from the previews and I already adore the score. Can't wait to actually see how it works with the storyline.
