While Alex's maternal grandparents were visiting in May, we noticed that whenever we played the music on his crib toys, he'd start kicking and waving his arms. We dubbed it "wiggle time" and we tried to make sure that he got at least a little bit every day, though some days he would even gladly wiggle for an hour or more at a time. There is a lot of really interesting graffiti here in Bogota. It's like works of art. Bill told me the business owners actually hire the graffiti artists to paint the walls so that no one comes along and puts crap graffiti on it - win/win, I guess you'd call it.

What I mean by "crap graffiti" is tags, like this:

So, Alex came home from the hospital on April 30th, a Monday, weighing a whopping 5 lbs. He was so tiny that Bill could hold him in one hand. After the setback we'd had the week before with his cow's milk allergy, we thought it would be much longer. Yesterday when I was at the hospital I ran into the head of pediatrics while I was in the cafe and he told me that Alex was up to 2300 grams (5 lbs., 1 oz.) and that they were moving him to Intermediate Care in the evening ( Read more... )
