A friend from D.C. posted on Facebook that she is looking for a fat-free, dairy-free hot chocolate recipe. I suggested using carob instead, which got me to craving it. On our trip up to Villa de Leyva, we stopped at the Puente de Boyacá (Bridge of Boyacá). There was a decisive battle there that gave Colombia its independence from Spain, so it's a big tourist attraction. They have put in plazas on both sides, with flags lining them, an honor guard standing watch at the bridge and at the statue of Santander, and ( Read more... )

We went to Villa de Leyva this past weekend. I have a longer post about it brewing, but meanwhile will post this photo from the drive up there.

This is on Autopista del Norte (Northern Highway). You can see where the urban jungle stops and the actual jungle begins. No transition, no suburbs, just the end of the city.
