Both fics are incredible. They reminded me why I love the pairing, and why I love the two characters. They are heart string-tuggers, to be sure -- but not in a fluffy way.

Why is Snily not more popular??

I think people are picky about it. I know I am. I'm more of a James/Lily shipper than a Snape/Lily shipper (I like unrequited and I like their angst more than actual mutual romance with those two) and it's hard to find something that doesn't have Snape and Lily OOC and doesn't vilify or completely disregard James.

IDK, I guess that's one of the reasons why I write fic, to satisfy what I like seeing in MWPP era stuff. Also, I'm sick of some people either writing him as a complete fluffball and Lily as a bitch who was in the wrong XP

No I know what you mean. Though I do like to indulge in teh sappy sap, I can't stand the, as you put it, "complete fluffball" Snape and "bitch" Lily. Finding gems is hard, but why aren't there more? It's not like there's a shortage of good writers in fandom, right...? (*not thinking about half of FFN*)

Though I've only recently come to terms with James/Lily. I just so wanted LESS to work out *sigh*

I guess you're right. It's hard to pull it off. I guess it scares people off? But I don't know...why don't more people try? There isn't even a lot of crappy Snily!

TBH there isn't enough Lily/James love either, which is probably my favorite pairing and it's so hard to find enough fic for them, let alone enough GOOD fic. I mean, idk, people just often don't get characters right for me, which is part of the fun of writing fic. I just don't find it hard to get Lily/James or Snape/Lily right but people fuck up so easily! D: It confuses me. I mean, if I can manage to keep them IC in my crazy AU fic that I'm working on rn, it can't be too hard to keep them consistent in a canon compliant fic, right? I suppose in an ideal world *Sigh*

But you see, Ashley, you are in the unfortunate predicament of being a damn extraordinary writer. I can only suppose it's hard to read fics that you know you can do a better job with. And when your talents are thus superior, good fics are few and far between I guess.. (y/n? I'm all hypothesis)
I feel like the only MWPP fandom that is any sort of prolific is Sirius/Remus...
