30 Days of Telly Meme - Day 24

Jun 06, 2010 16:17

My rebellious streak reasserted itself and, since the next couple of qs bored me yesterday, and I had fic to write, that I would do this today, and catch up with the missed days in the week, since they probably didn't justify a post to themselves. Oh, but this one...

Day 24 - Best quote: Doctor Who - the closing lines of Survival:

One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.

I own Dalek Invasion of Earth, but I still haven't watched it, though I've seen the farewell scene several times and those lines ALWAYS make me tear up.

Yes, there are a few really touching little scenes and throwaway lines that One gets. I don't know if it's down to the lines, or Hartnell, but a lot of them stick in my head.

I wanted to quote his speech from The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve, but when I looked at it, it's not outstanding in itself - that one really is Hartnell. I listened to that story (mostly going "What?" because it's complicated and it REALLY needs the pictures!) and that speech at the end gave me shivers down my spine. (When the Doctor talks about how all his companions leave him, and not even his Susan understood...) And then the script editor changed and Dodo arrived in the unlikeliest manner possible... DW was always random, heh.

Hmm, you know, you did ought to watch it. Really. Iconic Dalek moments, Ian and Barbara, Susan having romantic interludes with fish-slapping, a silly monster and a full tick box of Terry Nation cliches for the first time. (We didn't get them all in The Daleks... Hee.) And One plays the hero: "Yes, and we ( ... )

I've read the novelisation - I got that before I got the DVD so I do know the story.

I don't think I ever read that one. My library had a lot of First Doctor Target books when I was a teenager, but I'm pretty sure not Invasion of Earth.

... I so wish I could remember TV and movie quotes. I just haven't the ear for it, I have to see them written down. (There are so many shows I find much more interesting when other people are throwing quotes about than when I watch them myself!)

I love Three's regen speech. 'Course, I love Three. ;-)

Also, for some incomprehensible reason, this line makes me want to watch Hogan's Heroes: "When we are too old to make love, we will make wonderful soup." *sporfle*

This is what the Internet is for! I can remember some from things I've seen a lot, but to do this, I just typed in X quotes into Google and hey presto! You too can find quotes!

Heh. :-) (This Rene's reflection his and Yvette's calling each other things like "My little cabbage!")

They could be, although it's also quite easy to think of episodes they could be from & I did recognise most of the others. I just rather liked these ones for randomness... :-)
