I love that you managed to reworked in the red outfits from earlier in the story I was wondering when I was going to reappear. David wanting constant updates about what Blaine looks like was funny. Jeff's excitement was rather cute.
I can't believe Blaine's reaction I would've thought he would be happy at the possibility of Kurt being his soulmate. Don't get me wrong I understand his reluctance at starting a relationship with Kurt. I just thought his feelings for him would trump that. Blaine's decision to close his eyes during Kurt's appointments really bothers me, since it's for such selfish reasons. Shouldn't Kurt have the ability to learn who his soulmate is. It's almost as though Blaine's taking away Kurt's free will to choose whether or not he's willing to take the chance at romance.

The red outfit is so important! We had to come back to it. And I agree with you about David and Jeff. I love them.

I based Blaine's reaction here off the canon conversation he has with Kurt in the Lima Bean when Kurt sort of admits his feelings. Blaine basically comes right out and says he's too scared to jump into anything. He allows his fear to override whatever he might be feeling for Kurt (and I think Blaine *was* feeling something for Kurt at that point). The same principle applies here. I'm sorry, though, that you were hoping for something else. The good news is that the story isn't over!

I agree with you, though, that Blaine's decision to close his eyes is selfish. Kurt absolutely deserves the chance to make up his own mind. I think it's important to remember that Blaine is still reeling from this turn of events, though. He's only had a couple of hours to digest it.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting; I always enjoy reading what you think!

(Sorry this got so long. I just felt I needed to explain why, while I've liked this fic so much, I was so disappointed in this chapter, and it kinda got away from me.)

I've been loving this story so far, but this chapter has me really disappointed. You see, part of what I've loved so much was how cleverly you created a narrative impediment without making either Kurt or Blaine stupid, selfish, or just plain OOC, or inserting some huge Evil/Oppresive Outside Force that forces them apart. It can be a major challenge in a "soulmates-verse" style fic: how do you realistically keep people apart when they have a way of knowing that they belong with each other. You went with the Very Unfortunate But Very Understandable Misunderstanding, and you played it off beautifully. You kept Kurt and Blaine apart, built up the narrative drama, and still didn't make the ongoing relationship tension either of them "at fault." In addition to the great job plotting a clever sort of conflict and a great twist on a now-common theme, it's also quite well ( ... )

Hi! Let me start by saying thank you for taking the time to write so much and explain your thoughts in detail. This is the first story I've ever written, so anything constructive - positive or negative - is most appreciated. Thank you also for your compliments regarding why you've enjoyed the story so far ( ... )

someone should tell Blaine that he's taking Kurt's choice to decide anything AWAY from him....and if he doesn't get off his ass and MOVE, Kurt might end up with someone else and then Blaine'll be the one suffering knowing that it could've been and it WAS.

So I take it you're *against* Blaine keeping his eyes closed... ;) Everything you said is potentially true, of course. Let's hope it doesn't turn out that way!

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's always good to hear from you (and not just because you say such nice things). ;) I'm glad you're still enjoying the story, and I hope you'll find the next chapter interesting as Blaine continues to deal with all of this new information.

Thank you, too, for the first-fic support! I get nervous about making sure everything is in order, which is why I take a few days between updates to edit the next part. Then, of course, I find things I've missed after I post. I'm sure I still don't catch it all, though.

My love for Jeff knows no bounds. I think I'm going to have Jeff run for President.

I'm realizing just how valuable a beta can be. I had a couple of friends read over the story when it was in the very rough stages, and they made some good suggestions. I don't currently have anyone to read as I revise and edit now, though. (Although there is someone reading the story who has offered to help me with anything I might write in the future, so I'm pleased about that.)

And hey - one person's wise old cane-waving crone is another person's wand-wielding fairy godmother. Personally, I'd be happy to be considered either one.

Thanks again!
