God help the Islanders when Ben and Burt figure out a plan, because the smackdown is going to be epic AND legendary.

I have, actually, thought about introducing Sebastian into the mix. I don't really have a logical way of doing that, right now, but I have thought about it.

(Interestingly enough, if I were to introduce him, I would almost certainly do so at the same time as or just before or after the first appearance of one of the story's real Big Bads. So. There's that.)

Sebastian could be a minion of Charles Widmore's? I could get behind that...

BURT. This chapter just makes me want to hug everyone, but Burt especially. You da man, Burt Hummel.

It's interesting that Ben accepts Burt's help so willingly, without even a cursory "no, this isn't your problem" -- Blaine wants to protect Kurt and keep him away from the Island business, but Ben doesn't seem to care so much about that. I wonder if he (1) is reasoning (accurately) that there's no way Burt will let him say no, or (2) takes the doll to mean that Burt and Kurt are already connected to the Island, so he's not dragging them into anything, or (3) just wants to protect Blaine and himself above all and will take whatever help he can get.

Or if I'm just wildly overthinking, which has been known to happen.

I think in the end, it comes down to the parent/child thing. Blaine's a child -- he's used to being restricted to an extent, to having decisions made for him and for his own protection, and so he's trying to sort of make sure those same restrictions are imposed on Kurt, that things are done for Kurt's safety. But Ben and Burt are both parents -- they make the decisions and enforce the restrictions. I think Ben is sort of trusting that, if the situation hasn't already gotten to the point where Burt and Kurt can't just back out of it by severing ties to the Andersons (which it may have), Burt will pull back before he puts Kurt at risk.

And like I said, it may have already gotten to the point where Kurt and Burt can't just go back to normal, where they won't be safe no matter what the Andersons do. And I think that at that point, it might well be that they're actually safer being as close to the Andersons as they possibly can be ( ... )

Wow. Yes, that makes perfect sense, that he's trusting Burt to make that judgment for himself. And I totally get that he's drained and operating on instinct -- just trying to tease out what those instincts are, since he can be kind of a mysterious guy. Thanks for indulging me. :)

No problem. Honestly, I hadn't really thought about it either -- the scene was from Burt's POV, so I sort of knew what Ben was doing/saying but didn't really know why (Ben is intensely puzzling to Burt). But at the scene I'm writing now, it's important to know these things, so.

This chapter made me feel so much.

Poor boys. They can't catch a break, both blaming themselves and worried about the other. I'm glad that they finally had a moment to hug and be together.

Team Burt/Ben forever. I love them being awesome dads together. I love that they have teamed up to protect their boys. Burt is perfect, knowing that this is going to led to trouble but also knowing that he needs to protect Blaine for Kurt and protect Ben because of Annie.

The Walt scene! WTH. I have no idea yet what to even think about it. Has Blaine being seeing Walt before or is it just on of those weird dream things where you know something. Is Walt on the island still? Blaine was in the horrible movie torture room! And he knew that David was going to threaten them with a gun? is that what he saw?

Great chapter.

A lot of the Walt stuff will be answered next chapter, but for the record: Walt and Michael left the Island together. Walt is currently living with his grandmother (Michael lives elsewhere) and is a student at Dalton, but he and Blaine have never really interacted, which is why he says he didn't think Blaine would recognize him. I think for Blaine, Walt's always stood out a little bit, but he didn't know why and he didn't feel comfortable talking to him ( ... )

The worst part about Sunday is that it means there's a whole week to wait for the next installment. So I decided to put that time to use, and I'm roughly 35 episodes into Lost since this chapter went up. I've never seen it before, but I couldn't not read this story because you produce the best glee fics I've ever read, and it's what you're writing write now. Amazingly, by the way; it's enthralling even for someone who has no clue who these people are and what's going on...you give your universes such depth and texture, I absolutely ache for your characters. So to fully appreciate this deliciously interconnected work, I'm binging on the other half of the source material so I can re-read it with deeper understanding. And it's not a hardship, I've been following only glee for so long that I'm sort of...extra blown away by how good writing can be and how well a "bloated" cast can be handled, if that makes any sense XD I mean I love glee...but loving it kind of makes me hate it half the time, because it can be so good, and has moments of ( ... )

See, but I would (and have) made the same arguments about LOST, that it was uneven, that I often found it frustrating because it would be so good and then it just... wouldn't be. For long stretches of time. So I feel it's a bit unfair to say that LOST is an example of what Glee could be, or that one is better or worse than the other. For all that they're two very, very different shows, they have a lot in common. And one of those things is that they both met with a whole lot of criticism.

But I'm glad you're getting into it anyway. For all that I complained and complained about LOST while it was on, it really was a wonderful show. I still tear up at the first few notes of some of the pieces from the show's score. And overall, it was very well worth the watching, I thought.
