Running Playlist

Jun 27, 2011 16:23

So a while back, thepyromanical1 mentioned that she was going to start running more often, and asked for playlist recommendations. I don't usually do full playlists -- mostly I just get a bunch of tunes together and then hit shuffle, but I did have this playlist that I used as my primary get-psyched music for the marathon last year. On listening to it again, I ( Read more... )

if it's not a hassle for you, could you upload a zip or rar of all the songs?

"baby-faced destroyer" may be my favorite nickname yet.

I'll see what I can do, but the computer I usually use for music stuff is currently sitting dead, and I'm not sure how well I can figure this out on my little netbook. But I'll try.

I love everything about Tirunesh Dibaba. She's all little and adorable, and then she gets on the track and just stomps on everyone. She's amazing.

Had to put Peter Sagal in there. He really is one of my favorite things about reading Runner's World (and also listening to NPR on Saturday afternoons, because Wait, Wait is like the best show ever.)

NGL, I kind of wish I had the Glee version of that song instead (marching bands!), but it's possible that the Madonna/JT version fits the mix better.

I took several of the songs for my workout mix -- thanks!

Pretty awesome mix and picspam!

I just hit your running tag, and holy shit- you're really going to do an ultra? That is hard core- I am impressed. (Because yes, I am also a runner and so I think you're bad-ass for doing an ultra and not insane :) ) I'd love to do one, but there's no way in hell. I did my first marathon this past fall as well, and the training time was just too much with little kids, plus I'm pretty sure my calves/heels would rebel. So, GO YOU!

I'll have to download a few of these- my mixes are getting old :)

I'm probably not going to do one this year -- my running over the winter/spring was kind of spotty, and I just don't have the kind of mileage I need to actually be able to function through one. But I'm going to try for a fall marathon, and see where next year takes me.

But I really, really want to, though. The thing I realized after the marathon last year was that I never really hit the wall. I mean, I guess below the knees I kind of did, but from the knees up I honestly could have kept going. Certainly, there was no mental block; there was never any thought of quitting. And... I don't know, running just makes me so content. If I can get my body to do it for longer; if I can get to the point where all my easy runs are ten miles long and I race for twenty-four hours straight, I would be so happy with that.

DUDE. DUDE. DUDE. Thank you so, so, so much for putting together this lovely playlist/runningspiration! I'm so excited to plug into it tomorrow and haul ass. :D :D :D

All of these runnerly people look so intense, but I think Goggins is my favorite. Running because he hates it, lololol.

Thank you again, this is totally fantastic!

You're welcome! Oh, man, Goggins is hardcore. Inspirational, to be sure, but definitely not someone you want to emulate in any real fashion, because... I mean, I'm not even sure he's human, with all the things he's done. He's like the freaking Terminator; he can't be stopped.

I love him, but I think I love Jenn Shelton a little more. Possibly because she's the only person on the list to ever be arrested for yanking a park ranger's hat off and throwing it like a frisbee. And while I'd never do that, I love that she did.

(Also, I love that she looks all happy and joyous in that photo, and Scott Jurek looks so freaking miserable. Ha ha, Jurek. Douche.)
