I was talking with some folks a while back about how I have to get the bathroom in my house redone. There’s no actual tile in the bath, just some kind of plastic molded shit, and it’s starting to bow out in the tub. I’m only slightly terrified of what kind of rotten mess is behind that ( Read more... )

And now that I'm really thinking about, it might be better if the wife has a higher education\pay level and the husband is trying to get his remodeling business off the ground so he's really gung-ho about doing the work in the house but also thinks she looks down on his because he has to shower after work, whereas she takes hers in the morning before work.

When they find the bottle, she says the note says, "Sorry about the body", in reference to the wine. This might also give the anthropologist friend something to do (they drink it with him when he comes back) and so he does a little digging on the wine which could have been placed by the first owner, but the note is defo from the second owner.

And maybe the wife is out of town and the husband decides the fireplace project would be a nice Christmas present. Then you can have the anthropologist friend singing "Mistletoe Bough" as a joke before discovering it's real.

Talking with Mom about the story and she agrees that the archaeologist and husband are bothers, but their father had a remodeling\general contractor biz, so the husband is carrying on a family tradition and he's is wondering about who he'll pass the trade down to, seeing as how his wife is not interested in having kids.

Also agree that the bottle in the wall should be sherry (dry sack), so when the brother mentions dry cats, the wife thinks he'd misheard her ("no, we found dry sack in the wall, not a dry cat") and that means the only person who's thinking about a baby is the husband. When the brother explains dry cats, the wife can say, "Oh, she said the house was lucky!" (ha ha)

There needs to be some ambiguity on who left the bottle in the wall and what it really says. Also, sherry isn't known to be very full bodied, so there can be some ambiguity on if the "body" is the one in the trunk or the bottle.
