He had said to meet her back at the tree. Same time and place. But when she go there, he wasn't anywhere in sight. She looked around, trying to stay within the same area encase he showed up from the other direction. Still nothing. Ash had kept quiet on Erin's shoulder, possibly looking for Willem as well. "Maybe i did get here too early..."

Erin gave up looking, and sat down in front of the tree. Ash climbed down and curled up on Erin's lap, while she mindlessly started stroking the kitten's back. "Wonder what kind of animal he wants. Do you remember Ash?" the kitten only purred, not repling with anything useful. "It'd be nice to find a friend for you... Someone you can actually play with, and not Mudkip." The kitten and that fish had taken a liking to each other, but it being a fish, and Ash being a curious kitten, that kind of relationship would never ever work out.
The kitten perked it's head up and heard Willem coming before Erin did. She took Ash's que and looked over as well.
"Hey!" Erin called, with a big grin on her face.

He was glad to see that Erin was still there, and that the kitten (he thought its name was Ash, although he was sure it was female) was safely on the ground this time.

“Sorry,” he said as he reached the tree, “class got held over.”

He looked down to where Ash had bounded over to him, standing on her hind legs to place her front paws on his leg.

“I think she remembers me.”

He crouched down so that he could both pet her and be on eye level with the happy smile Erin was giving him.

“You ready to go?”

Erin chuckled, smiling at her kitten and Wilm. "Not to worry. Though i was afraid i was too early."

Ash nuzzeled her head into his hand, purring quite loudly. "Hehe, I think so too."

Erin nodded and stood up to brush off dead grass and leaves off her dress.
"Yup! Theres a little pet shop not too far from here. I think they sell small animals and a few birds... Its that way, i believe... Shall we go?"

Willem nodded, scooping up Ash as he stood so to hand her back to Erin. Once the kitten had clambered onto her usual perch of Erin’s shoulder, they set off down the sidewalk. They walked in silence for a few moments, a state which was comfortable until Willem realized the need to shorten his strides a bit because Erin’s short legs couldn’t go as far in a step as his could.

Which made him also realize he needed to stop walking with his head in the clouds and actually talk to the pretty girl next to him before she decided he was boring and decided not to ever speak to him again.

“So,” he started, stumbling a bit when both she and the kitten turned to look at him (wow she had pretty eyes…focus, must focus), “your accent doesn’t sound American. Irish, right? Have you lived here long? In Liberty, I mean. ”

As conversation starters it wasn’t the best, but at least it was better than nothing.

Hopefully.
