WHO:  Arthur, Erin, Mattie, Sindre, random mythological creatures, anyone who thinks they can make this day worse.
WHAT:  Workday from hell.  They probably all deserve raises.
WHEN:  21July, Early Afternoon.
WHERE:  Madame Maime's.
RATING:  I for If No One's Swearing, We're Doing It Wrong.

It was hot.  Sindre was almost regretting his decision to walk to work.  At least he had almost arrived at the store, where blessed air conditioning could be found.  He was probably one of the few in Liberty not enjoying the heat; he had always done better with colder temperatures than warmer.  With a sigh of relief, he pushed his way into the building.

It seemed as if he were the first of the afternoon shift to arrive.  One of the three currently on the floor all but ran out the door as Sindre entered.  He stared at her, startled, as she flew by him, and immediately turned to look a the other two huddled by the desk.   They glanced at each other before one of them spoke up.  "Do you mind if we take off now?  There hasn't been anyone in here for over an hour.  And it's...been a strange morning.

Sindre nodded and gestured towards the door.  He wasn't particularly enthused about being alone to deal with any whims the Madame might have, if even for the twenty minutes before the others on the afternoon shift were supposed to arrive.  However, he wanted a chance to talk to the nisse inhabiting the place.  If anything supernatural had targeted the place, they would know.

He found them huddled around an unfamiliar creature hiding behind the counter, muttering to each other and hissing angrily at it.  It had pressed itself into the chairspace by the computer, and Sindre had to kneel to get a good look at it.  He hadn't had much experience with things outside of those who inhabited Norway and the occasional creature native to the United States, but it certainly looked like pictures of brownies bestemor showed him growing up.  He shooed the nisse away from it while wracking his brains.  He couldn't recall much about brownie other than they liked milk and hated salt, so he went to the refrigerator located in the break room.  Madame insisted on keeping milk in there, though Sindre never saw her drink it.  At least now it would come in handy.  He poured some into one of the larger incense trays and went back to place it by the brownie.

It seemed like today would not be an easy one.
