Out with the old . . .

I got a new laptop. It's great. I'm trying to figure out Windows 8 and it's not easy. Who decided everyone wants all these tiles on the screen. I have figured out to keep it on desktop.

Anyone have any hints?

If you want to see other tiles, you have to click on the bottom of the left hand side. That will take you to where your accessories and windows stuff are located. On the bottom, there is a slide and you need to move it over to see all of the tiles...

On you tube, there is a tutorial...which I watched.

Hugs and good luck!

There are a lot of tiles I'm not going to need or use. It took me forever to figure out how to upload photos into my pictures, so my Adam photos scroll on the tiles screen. Yay!!

Thanks. *hugs back*

Pretty sure you can turn the tiles off and go back to a standard desktop.

I don't know if I want to get rid of them. Just not used to them.

My son did a search on the web to make the desktop launch on startup. I'd ask him, but he's still in bed. If I remember later, I'll ask. But, if you have any Office 2013 apps, you don't need the desktop. You only need the desktop for using older apps. It takes a few days to get used to, but don't freak out about it. I thought I was going to 'hate' it, but I don't. I really like the new format.

I don't hate it. It's just different. I'm so used to XP, it's hard to switch gears.
