First off, i agree with *everything* that's been said so far. 24 hours to give comment? That's not making me feel like you care about my opinions. No minutes from the October meeting? Come on now ( ... )

Or the open-source nature of LJ? (is that still something LJ is, open source? i know it used to be...)

It still is.

Not all of LiveJournal's code, but then, that was the case from the beginning (most of the code was open-source, but some bits were marked LiveJournal-only, e.g. the Dystopia site scheme or some bits surrounding invite codes and, I think, payments). But most of it, I think.

A la carte icon purchasing would be fantastic to see soon. And fixing current problems, such as userpics being switched with other users' userpics, would be super awesome.

All of this that Susan said. Jira is full of broken things, and it would be fantastic to see them cleared out on a more regular basis.

This, times a million. What we need are bug fixes and already promised features, not new marketing schemes that are implemented without enough testing. Also, the recently-added vgifts are frightening, and if any other partnerships you form are going to result in the same strain for your volunteer Support team with as little evident added value as the partnership with The Independent has, I hope you never partner with anyone else ever.

What you said. So far, I doubt that the Independent partnership resulted in new Paid accounts, which seems to be the goal for any new feature recently. Rather, it appears that existing LJ-users really don't use the Independent features, but that new users try to comment on Independent articles without any understanding how LJ works with that... which can daily be seen in Support. You have a large group of people who are discouraged by the zillions of bugs, who bitch at Support volunteers, and you also have those people who open Support requests asking us how to save the pandas (yes, really). I'd be very much surprised if Independent users were to buy Paid LJ accounts. Most of them don't understand LJ, don't want to use LJ, but only want to comment on Independent articles, which they can't even do, because of the bug-ridden implementation.

I agree with most of the comments and also put my vote in for al a carte user pics. I have many role playing journals that I would be happy to buy more user pics for -- but that I don't need everything for them in a paid account.
