I wish I could quit you

So I rewatched the episode only this time, I stopped before the last ten minutes. And you know what? Without the shortcuts and character defamations, it was a gorgeous episode. I'm looking forward to rewatching the episode (I haven't yet), because I assume the second time around I won't be left feeling so bewildered. I think the problem with the last five minutes was pacing. The pacing of the entire episode up until then? It was gorgeous, but then there was no more time nomoretime, and they were renewed for a sixth season and SOMETHING...

I think they needed to have planned for renewal earlier in the season and paced the entire second half of that thing accordingly, but eh-TV politics and you can't really do that. I'm just going to have to keep that in mind and chock it up to the medium of TV when it comes to how the ending feels... because the rest of the episode feels like a big ol' hug from Show. A big angsty hug with a toy soldier clutched in one hand, digging lovingly into my palm.

But srsly, what ABOUT Jesse? After his episode I was totally just waiting for him to show up in the last few episodes. Wouldn't it have been cool if he'd brought Cas and Bobby back instead of God intervening again?
