You know rats can come up the drains? The BBC was good enough to film it on one of their wildlife shows. Not an experience I envy you in any way.

I did have a moment of wonder--could the rate have got in through the plumbing? But I don't think so. That rat was big enough that if I had tried to flush it, it certainly would have clogged up the works and caused worse problems.

I'm not saying it did, just that it could, and that's what the experts say... at least if you are on the first floor. I don't know if it's better or worse if the cat dragged the rat in.

Gads!

I've had roaches in the city, but not rats. Sorry, but I had to giggle at your screaming and the comment about being such a girl. Some reactions are completely subconscious!

The silly thing is that I would not HAVE rats in my apartment if I didn't have this CAT. I got the cat to keep the mice down, and now she's bringing in rats. ARGH. I am keeping the window closed more now that it's cold.

What about the one that was in the toilet? Do you think it got stuck trying to get away from the cat? Or maybe she dropped it in there?

My cat Bob brought birds in the house. It was a huge pain, teeny tiny feathers EVERYwhere!

I'm sure the rat jumped in there trying to escape from her. No way did it come to the 2nd floor through the plumbing, too far under water. Kitten used to torment birds to death in my room in the barn, so I know about the feather problem. Ick.
