I really like this. I must admit I never thought much about Inara's past, but I think this is now my head!canon for her. It makes so much sense, and it shows another side to her as well. Beautiful.

A great take on Inara's backstory! I, too, have often wondered whether she was originally from a wealthy core planet or joined the Companions Guild to move her way up the social ladder in the 'verse.
