Only a teacher making a point of being especially civil would address a student with plural "you", and teachers would normally use first name (usually nickname, Sasha for Alexander, etc) or last name, never full (given + patronymic). Discipline would involve talk by principal, summoning parents to school, threats with police/juvenile delinquent record, rarely followed through. Suspension wouldn't be a typical punishment - who cares? Tests carry relatively lower weight than in US, and ongoing grades for homework/participation would be half or more of the grade, so failing a student who acts out isn't a problem. Music - no idea. I am one of those who isn't aware :)
My host sister was mad about Руки Вверх when I was there in 2003 and I believe they'd been popular for awhile at that point. Other names I remember are Алсу, Андрей Губин, and Земфир.
