But when the morning comes, I'm back where I started again.

This entry is brought to you by severe levels of X-Men flail.

1) Dennis Calero, the man who illustrated X-Men Noir and X-Men Noir: Mark of Cain is going to be at the next Emerald City Comic Con.
I adored both of the runs, and I desperately hope that Marvel does another one soon.
Dennis Calero also happens to be an awesome guy. The first time I went ( Read more... )

RE: Age of X.

I've heard it starts really good but falls apart at the end. So. It's every X-Men Crossover ever.

I dunno. I'm just about done I think. I might just give up depending on how Schism (which I'm not even reading) ends.

I hear you. But, like with Smallville, there are moments of brilliance that keep me coming back. *sighs* Oh, comics, I wish I could quit you.

Except not really.

I can think of so many places they should have quit while they were ahead, but they just don't understand the concept of life, not soap opera. :growls low in throat:

I have so many bothereds with canon that I prefer to do most of my fanon loving through research instead of reading/watching now. I don't lose my taste for the ones I love.

I'm thinking comics and I could do with another trial seperation.

I went a good two months without hitting the LCS and was no worse for wear.

I almost agree with that pic being Hipster!Gambit, but that shirt of his is too mainstream. There's at least 12 other people who have the same one.

He's wearing it ironically. Since it's mainstream now, he's actually being edgy because he's embracing what's popular to spite those twelve people with his IRONY and INTELLIGENCE.

Clearly, he is a hipster god.

1) :happy dance: Soo excited for you.

3) Hmmm... Makes a funny wondering, that's for sure.

4) Please, "Sibling Rivalry"? We'll all love you very, very much and want to meet you and enjoy the reception, 'kay?

1) THANK YOU! I ended up texting the equivalent of hyperventilation to a friend. I'm so psyched for this, and ECCC2012 in general. It's always such a fun experience.

3) I'll say.

4) Trufax: I ended up writing two pages before I had to go to work today. Apparently, my virtual serenade and your appeal worked.

I don't know enough about New Mutants illustration to help you out on that one.

I just figured it was a caricature of Gambit - it's been around quite a long time.

Your story will forgive you. Mine have sometimes been patient for years. (Though I wouldn't blame Hunter/Hunted if it secretly wanted to strangle me; nope, not one bit.)

It's cool. The plan, I think, is to let it be unless I can find a supercheap copy. Potentially at ECCC.

It did say that it was fan art, but I had no idea it had been around for a while. I'm kind of lame in that I don't keep up with tumblr...just show up to one and glut for a half an hour.

My story did. After posting this entry, I ended up writing two pages of it, which is more than I can usually get out in one sitting.
(One fic that I started back when I was in university, "I Get By", wants me drawn and quartered by now. I don't know if I'll ever finish it, but we'll see. I clearly have other priorities.)

Have fun there! Most conventions are too big for me now - when they get over about five thousand people, I feel somewhat trapped. Dragon*Con and SDCC are right out, for example.

I first saw that art about five years ago - which makes it positively antediluvian by internet standards, yes?

Sadly, I can TELL myself that writing is a priority, but the amount of time I'm able to put into it (or choose to when I have spare time) argues otherwise. I expect that work, with five sets of lesson plans (and the need to fill each in on a daily form, then convert it to a projector-friendly form for the students) will probably just about kill me this year. Fun times.

I plan to, even though it's still months away. And trust me when I say that you're not alone. My friend, Socks, has come with me two out of the last three years now, and she feels much the same way. Her coping mechanism, as it was, is to slip out of the con whenever she starts feeling overwhelmed to go get some fresh air. We usually go get coffee from this awesome place we frequent when we're there that's a block or two away from the convention centre ( ... )
