Synopsis: Cassie takes a job and ends up way over her head
Straining against the restraints she reached her hand towards Seth as she forced her body towards him. She wanted to scream when she couldn’t go any further. It would just be nice to have some warm human contact, it was all she wanted.
“Ah isn’t that sweet?” Gysborne voice echoed through a loud speaker.
Cassie’s head snapped towards Gysborne as she wobbled back into a sitting position. There were cameras in here? Quickly she looked around but didn’t see a red blinking light or anything that would indicate they were on film, but clearly according to Gysborne they were.
“Just watching you too is all so touching,” he smirked and Cassie heard a loud buzz. “You met several hours ago and now you’re bonding. I guess it’s true that situations like this bring people closer.”
Slowly she turned her head towards the bright light, shading her eyes from the glare. The door slowly rolled on its hinges and Gysborne flanked by two commandos and a scientist walked inside. The scientist walked over and set a medical kit down on a small table while the commandos aimed two AK-47’s at Seth. Gysborne flicked on the light, illuminating everybody in the harsh glow of the fluorescent lights.
The woman snapped on latex gloves, and shot Cassie with a tiny tranquilizer dart. Not enough to knock her out, or paralyze her but enough to drug her and make her feel loopy since Gysborne made it clear that he wanted her awake when it was Seth’s turn. Gysborne unlocked the cage and let her inside. The scientist didn’t even throw a curious glance at Seth as she immediately swabbed the inside of Cassie’s mouth, took several syringes full of blood and Scrapings of her skin. Satisfied she had enough of the woman’s DNA, she exited the cage and placed the blood in a small cooler.
Gysborne walked over and crossed his arms as he boldly looked down at Seth. “I’m glad you offered to let us take your DNA Seth. Too bad we never said how we’d do it. You pissed me off and I know that body of your can heal, but I bet this is still going to hurt like a bitch.”
Gysborne stepped backwards. “Unload everything on him,” he barked at the two commandos. Neither man hesitated as they fired every round through the cage directly into Seth. And when he could smell nothing but blood and flesh, Gysborne pulled out his own automatic rifle and unleashed everything he had once more, as added insurance of course.
“NOOOooooo!” Cassie attempted to scream but ended up slurring her words instead. “Don’t kill him.” Her head rolled to the side as she desperately worked to keep it up.
The scientist pulled on a pair of latex gloves and walked over with the same equipment she used on Cassie. Calmly she unlocked the door to his cage and stepped inside. “Well Seth,” she held up a syringe and tapped it. “Let’s draw some blood shall we?”
Seth was nothing more than a bag of bloody flesh as the scientist took what she wanted. Quickly his body began to knit himself back together which hurt more than getting shot up at. His lips began to reform, his kidneys began to grow back, his muscles began to reattach himself and all he wanted to do was scream and yet all he could do was lie and wait.
“Gonna kill you,” Seth said
“What was that? I couldn’t hear you because half your mouth is lying on the floor,” Gysborne said.
Seth grunted and tried to go to a place where pain did not exist.
Through her drug induced haze Cassie’ watched Seth’s body miraculously begin to heal. She knew he had a super healing factor but she just now understood exactly how superior it was. How could anybody survive such an attack and walk away? How old was he? Lifting her head, she stared at him, wincing from his pain and every time she spouted out a curse word in Gysborne’s direction in Seth’s honor it came out as nothing more than tongue-twisted gibberish.
Before Seth could recover and attack Gysborne , he pulled out a tranquilizer and shot Seth five consecutive times in his chest. It was the same drug used back at the diner but at a lower dosage so he’d be awake.
Cassie’s head began to clear, but she continued to keep it lowered, feigning a drug induced state. She scanned around and looked for anything that could be used to cut through the restraints. Other than bullet casings she didn’t have many options. Think! THINK! She spied a knife attached to the boot of one of the commandos who stood dangerously close to her cell.
But how was she going to get it? What could she do?
Everybody was busy trying to subdue Seth that they forgot about the Drug Induced Woman in the next cage. Lifting her arm, she reached over and stuck her fingertips outside the black bars. With as much pressure as she could she used her index finger and middle finger to slide the small knife out and then back through the cage.
No different than lifting a man’s wallet, she thought as she carefully set the knife down under her and scooted over so she was sitting on top of it.
