The Book Titles in Other Languages

Jul 12, 2008 00:20

I live in Sweden. Recently, I found that all three published books of the series have been released here in Swedish. But, rather than keeping the titles given to the novels by SMeyer, they'd been given other titles. Not translated straight off ones either. I was wondering if we are the only country to have done this and if not, what the titles of ( Read more... )

Spanish:

Twilight: Crepúsculo- un Amor Peligroso (Twilight, a dangerous love)
New Moon: Luna Nueva
Eclipse: Eclipse.

that's it xD what also changes is the backquote of the book, like the 'three things i was absolutly certain about' at the back of twilight.

I wonder why they would change the back of it, but I like that the titles are - basically - the same.

Uusikuu means New Moon?

And I like Temptation and Doubt, even though I don't like Doubt 'cause it's all over the whole Edward or Jacob thing. :P

And we also have the same covers as the english version. The apple, the flower and the red ribbon. :)

I just thought they sounded odd. :P But I'm so used to the titles being short, to the point, and sounding similar-ish.

Might I ask why you've been obsessed with Sweden?

It's super crazy in Japan. They split up each book into thirds, and each has a different name.

The three for Twilight are:
The Boy Whom I Love is a Vampire
Blood Tastes Sadness
The Vampire Family in the Darkness.

I can't remember the others now, but I can look them up later if anyone's interested.

I can't find the official translations...so here's as close as I can get.
Some of them are VERY loose translations, and Japanese titles are hard to translate.

New Moon:
The Fangs Whisper Sweetly
The Wolf's Moon (or Moon of the Wolf)
Sighing Angel

Eclipse:
Red Mark (Red Hallmark)
Give Me a Chilly Kiss
Dusk is the Time of Demons

I couldn't find any titles for Breaking Dawn yet.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought the comment with the titles in the original language was the only one you posted with them. :P My bad.

These titles confuse me a bit. I can't help but feel that none of them really have anything to do with the stories in the books. :P
