Hi!

Question for the German speakers:

I want to give my dog a German name. I was looking for the word for bear but I've found 3 different versions. The woe of internet translators of course.

Thanks!

German names are awesome. But 'bear', as other commentators have mentioned, is pronounced almost the same as in English. So why not to choose another nice German name?

The other day I found out that Germany had dropped its longest word. A good opportunity to pick it up and to re-use as the dog's name.

In fables the bear has two other German names: "(Meister) Petz" (mentioned in another comment") and "Braun" (=brown), pronounced "brouwn". I really love the name for the male wolf "Isegrim" (pronounced "eseegrim"), it's MHG and means iron + snarl/growl
