What Was Done in Capernaum (Kirk/f, Kirk/McCoy; ST:XI; NC-17) 2/3

Part 1

As the months passed, they began to categorize their successes; there were enough that they could not be easily remembered with a word or name. There were diplomatic missions, border skirmishes, first contacts, and a few that so thoroughly defied categorization, not to mention McCoy’s experience, that he didn’t try. There were a few failures ( Read more... )

Ack, the McCoy/Spock scene was SO well done. Which is hard. Vulcans are shit to write, and that particular relationship is so--strange! IDK WTF I'm talking about; I just know that I felt like you succeeded where most fail.

He waited, not quite with patience but with forbearance
This.

YOU AND YOUR AMAZING SCIENCE. I love it.

You can thank my wonderful beta, zerrah, for that one. The first time around it was very blunt, and she pointed out that Spock tells people to fuck off very elliptically. But yeah, I think Vulcans are super hard to write; it's not just dropping the contractions, it's that they think a completely different way, have a different cultural complex, and literally aren't speaking the same language. This is why Spock only makes a cameo appearance :).

Well then I give chocolate to your beta. :P Although I doubt she's responsible for why I liked it, which is the little shows of body movement.

That was one of the many, many things I loved about Nimoy's portrayal of Spock. The way he holds his body (and I guess the rest of the actors playing Vulcans copied him on) is very open, as if he's receptive to whatever you're going to say even though it will probably be illogical and disappointing. I can see nu!Spock doing it more to fuck with you.

Oh, I'm just loving this. The pacing, your complex Jim, your complex and hesitant yet bold Bones, just ... all of it.

“You know, in case I never mentioned it, I hate spaceships.” It didn’t take long for the message to be received; this was Kirk, after all. His head turned suddenly under McCoy’s hand, and he looked up at him with an incredulous expression.

“Really!” he exclaimed. “Then I’ve been wasting a lot of credits sending drinks to women’s tables and saying they were from you.”

It certainly took ME longer than Jim! Great second part. I heart your Bones and Jim. Perfect.

Yeah, I'm afraid that was too elliptical. But I wanted Bones to give Jim the option to take his statement ("I'm only here because of you") at whatever level he needed or wanted to. If it was a big "I love you, you fool," it could go either way--Jim could respond out of a sense of obligation, or he could figure Bones was seeing the friends-with-privileges thing through his filter of hopeless romanticism.

Also, he really does hate spaceships.

I may have to reroute us through the Neutral Zone just to relieve the boredom

felt the answer well up in him with such force that he was temporarily mute

feeling the rush of air as doors opened to possibilities

i am just enthralled with this story!

this is so wonderfully intense -- and I didn't comment prior but I love the Kirk/OF set up -- makes the K/M all the more delectable, IMO.

Aww, thanks. As you can probably tell from the warnings, I was super nervous about the OFC thing, but I tried hard not to make her obnoxious or intrusive. And I figure she had a good time, anyway.
