Precisely what I think. When I caught my first Flash-forward it was, "Oh, so we know who gets off the island, it's just figuring out how? That's.... kinda lame."

desmond cannot be an oceanic 6. he wasn't on the plane to begin with.

I meant one of the Oceanic 6 in terms of being rescued from the island...not so much as being one of the famed "Oceanic 6." Although, they made up lies about Kate...so they could have passed him off as someone on the plane.
