For your NaNo plan, go for it! It's called being a NaNo Rebel. I've done it a few years, and here's how I do it - any words I have to put considerable thought into such as longer blog entries, personal journal entries, multiple fanfic stories, non-fiction writings, etc., are considered in the overall word count. At the end of the month, dump them into one file and verify. :)
