Aug 13, 2008 15:13

I hope you see this soon. We're planning on going in to the city this Saturday night for dinner with a group of friends-I think there are 9 of us and we need a good recommendation for a restaurant. I'd prefer not to go down to the meatpacking district just cause it's such a PITA to get down there. But if there is an awesome restaurant I'll trek ( Read more... )

Hello, lady. Hmm... Any parameters? Type of food? Location besides Meat Packing?

Some of my favorites...
* Buddakan (good for big groups but hard to get ressies)
* Steak houses: Quality Meats, Dylan Prime
* .... shoot... I'm brain dead. I need to think on this...

OK... I'm playing around on OpenTable.com for a party of 9. Some other ideas...

* China Grill (Midtown - very yummy - good for groups - nice scene)
* Olives (Union Sq - never been but I always hear it's good)
* Shun Lee (Midtown or Lincoln Sq - famous Chinese restaurant; famous people like Bill Clinton go there)
* Tribeca Grill (Deniro's place)
* Ben Benson's Steakhouse (very good steak house, kind of a guy's place, been around for years)
* Tao (surprisingly they have a table but at 6:30)

Thanks! Ya, we called Tao. That would be awesome but I think 6 is too early...

But maybe take that ressie, take your time with dinner, and go out for drinks afterward?

A party of 9 on a Saturday night is tough, especially since it's already Wednesday. I'm trying to think of other places I like that are good for groups...

Oh! We recently went to Porter House in Time Warner Center. Seemed like they handled large parties pretty well. And then you could go right next door to Stone Rose for drinks and people-watching afterward (make a ressie for a table there as well).

I agree but a couple of us have kids and sitters can't get there that early. Sucks.

We made a reservation at Vong, it's Thai. Have you heard of it?

That's good to know. Zaggat gave it a 23. Some of the ones that people love, Zaggat doesn't give the highest rating to.

i have a random question for you. how much do you pay your sitter for 2 kids?

usually between 10-15 depending on the age and experience. I'm getting away with paying someone $8 for this wed (dave matthews concert at MSG) but I feel badly so I'll give her a good tip.

what's the youngest age of a sitter you would allow to babysit your children?
