Flagging

The word "flagging" has several meanings, including the calling out of something of particular interest or the identification of a problem or violation.

It can also mean growing tired. All of this applies to this story of the student government at a California college voting to ban the American flag from their space. In the interest of being "fair ( Read more... )

The trouble is that the cause and thinking behind this is evident enough, but bodes poorly for the United States. These kids are parroting what they are being taught.

The greatest irony is that people go to school to become smarter. Clearly not working as intended here.

It is exactly as intended. But those intentions are not good.

Eesh, that sounds only slightly smarter than Timecube.

OT, do you agree that 47 Congressmen just violated the Logan Act?

ADDENDUM: Better correct your "politcs" tag.

On the Logan Act: No. It is an "open letter," i.e., a news article or press release. Logan Act violations are private communications, such as Obama with Iraq (2008), Kerry with Iran (2004), Kerry with his private meetings with Communist Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua in 1985 to undercut Reagan (for which Kerry was censured by the Senate), Kerry with the Vietnamese Communists in 1972 (for which charges of treason were seriously considered), et cetera ( ... )

Good to know. Those 47 have been called traitors on Facebook, accused not just of violating the act but of opposing any and all nuclear peace agreements. I'm tempted to call the accusers Jew haters, but I'd hate to stoop to their level.

Iran openly brags about the weakness of Obama, and his continual concessions. At the same time, they continue to proclaim their goals to utterly destroy Israel and the West. Obama has been bold enough to say that he has "stopped" their progress, even as they race to complete their weapons programs infused with the billions of dollars flowing to them from Obama's release of the sanctions.

An objective observer would say that Obama is acting on behalf of the Iranian genocidal jihadists. The most favorable reading one could give to this is that Obama is so blinded by his perception that any sort of a deal would be good for his legacy that he is ignoring the nature of the deal.

I do not believe that. There is too much history here.

Judy Klitsner in her book Subversive Sequels in the Bible, makes a compelling case that the reason that God destroyed the tower of Bavel and scrambled the languages there is that the endeavor was, much like what we see here, to create a space that would be the expression of the collective, with individual identity melded into that of the group such that will, independent of group's will, would be punished.

The proposal described here is a similar plan, grounded in the idea that if we erase indicators of distinction, we will remove the basis for conflict. This is a delusion.
