Memorial Day

Memorial Day we gather and pay homage to our fallen
Who gave themselves completely in response to duty’s callin’
Some joined to see the world, some merely thought of education
And some were drawn by kinship with the proud that guard our nation

But trials and training molded them into a joined precision
That holds our cause in high esteem, and ( Read more... )

This is one of the things that I really like aboot the internet, having access to so many different cultures.

Thanks for providing the internet public a window into your bizarre (to me) and trippy culture.

In fact, thanks to Hollywood & the hooge US market for showcasing the US's bizarre & trippy culture for the world to see -:)

Human dignity
Precious liberties
Individual worth
Personal responsibility
Freedom to achieve
Charity for those in need
Encouragement for those that need thatThese are alien concepts indeed to most of the world. Of course, most of the world lives in misery. But you are a spin-off of our own culture, as much as you pretend that it is so very different. You've achieved some differences, certainly - I've read your court cases where it was pointed out that "freedom of speech" is an American thing and has no place in Canada ( ... )

I am happy that only in the USA are places like Las Vegas, a great spiritual centre with around 40 million visits per year.

Curious. I was in the gaming industry for some time; most of my clients were overseas. The Asian/Pacific region could be considered "the land of casinos." While my corporate headquarters were in Las Vegas (more convenient than Hong Kong or Singapore!), it hardly struck me as a spiritual center. It's just business. They do a nice job of showmanship sometimes, but so does Broadway - and there is lots of overlap.

You've expressed here a fatalistic view - apparently intending it as an answer to the question posed to you.

But the "Global Religion" - climate catastrophism - has always (and I mean for most of half a century) struck me as rather cynical, and I oppose it.
