Hm, where to start on this one... give me a moment, it will come to me.

Reynard, I can't tell anymore if it's sarcastic or just generally amused. Although, I'm quite sure he takes great pleasure in 'experimenting' and playing with his boy toy. And you have dialogue! lol. I love how you can have the simplest of dialogue and still get the point of what's going on in the particular scene.

It's hilarious how Reynard's mood is uplifted when he goes to see his toy.

I did notice something, Reynard says "Have a cold dinner sent to my rooms." I'm assuming here its meant that food is being taken to his own room and down to the boy? I just want to be clear, or is the s at the end of room a typo. Anyway, I love this and curious to where this will lead.

Yes, I am venturing into dialogue! Classics has gotten me really into the classical poets and such, the amazing things they achieve through this minimalist language. All the characterization comes from such simple dialogue, but it speaks volumes. I dig that.

You have to think of Reynard as like, a child. For all his intelligence, he's very infantile and socially inept. I've been purposefully being ambiguous, but he's such a complex charachter and I'm quite enamoured with him, so maybe I'll dedicate one of the upcoming chapters to his background.

Rooms is correct. Someone like him would have had an apartment of sorts within the house, with his bedroom and a private sitting room and/or study, not just one room.

I do get the impression that Reynard is in the medical profession for some reason. Maybe it was stated in the first chapter...I don't remember I'll have to re-read it. But I get the sense that he's, yes, very intelligent and possibly a doctor, maybe a surgeon. But then again, thinking about it more, based off the type of person he seems to be, which is anti-social...he might have a career where he doesn't have to deal with people. Granted he's loaded and he probably doesn't have to lift a finger...should he have a career he'd probably avoid humans.

He doesn't have a job! He's a Marquis! You do know that this takes place in the late 1600's, right?

It is interesting that you should mention doctors though... but I shall say no more. Just wait for the next chapter.
