We used to do Pride recs quite a few years ago, but decided to resurrect it. We will be reviewing Rupert and Dan’s respective movies every couple of days. Hope you enjoy!
Today’s post is about two comedy show episodes that Rupert was involved in.
SUPER CLYDE (2013)
Rupert did a pilot for CBS in 2013 called Super Clyde. Unfortunately, it wasn’t picked up, which was a shame.
Super Clyde is about three siblings who come into a lot of money. Clyde (Rupert) is the youngest of the siblings. He has to decide what to do with his money, if anything. His siblings are self-absorbed. Clyde wants to find his place in the world and as a youngster, wants to be a superhero. He decides to be like his uncle and leaves money around town to help people. It doesn’t always go as planned, but he has a good heart.
Rupert does an excellent American accent. He is adorable and very funny. Stephen Fry (who did the UK version of the Harry Potter books), plays the butler and is as terrific as always. The scenes with Rupert and Stephen are so much fun.
Clyde likes comics so there is comic book storyboarding within in keeping with the superhero part of the show. It was a very cute and different idea. The fat jokes are very tiresome, but there ends up being a point to it. The show had a lot of potential and would’ve been fun to see what else they did with it.
Luckily, this is still on YouTube. Have a watch!

AMERICAN DAD - Season 8, episode 2 - Killer Vacation (2012)
American Dad is an animated comedy about a family with a dad who is with the CIA. This particular episode the family goes on vacation. Steve (the son) finds the camp at the resort geared towards children but is talked into trekking across the island to find a nude beach by another boy, named Liam, with a charming accent. The boy constantly leads them into pitfalls but despite his better judgment, Steve can't help but follow due to the other boy's accent.
There are mishaps and Steve gets hurt constantly, but Liam continues his jolly, happy way of looking at everything. Steve is so fascinated by the accent that he blindly follows him. By the time, they get to the nude beach, they find Steve’s parents and sister and her husband. So, he is grossed out, while Liam wants to get a peek through the binoculars.
Liam is voiced by Rupert. His accent is a very posh English one and probably what we in the States think they are supposed to sound like in the movies. It’s amusing. The scenes with Rupert are funny and his voiceover is well done.
I am NOT a fan of Fox animated comedies, so Rupert was the only reason I watched this. I personally think this show is not for children. If you like the show, you will love this episode. If you love Rupert, you will enjoy his scenes. The show seems to be only available on Amazon.
