This was made in Photshop CS2, but I think it can be translated to other programs.
Cap made by me. Cropped and resized and the base is:
Duplicate the background layer, set it to Screen, opacity 100% =>
If you don't have the Layers palette visible, press F7.
To add a new layer, click on:
The layers we're gonna use are:
New Layer -> Solid Color -> #013460 set to Exclusion opacity 70% =>
New Layer -> Brightness/Contrast (increased Constrast to +12), layer mode Normal, opacity 100% =>
New Layer -> Curves. In the dialog box that appears, you choose Red from the drop down box at the top and make somehting like this:
The icon looks like this:
Merge layers: Shift+Ctrl+E
Sharpen the image: Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen =>
If that feels too strong, you can use the Sharpen tool and adjust the strength.
You can use this as a base, or leave it as it is.
