1st season question....

Nov 05, 2011 00:49

Yes, I'm here. Yes, I still watch the show. Enough about me.
I can't help but wonder what the call back is all about.
There is a lot of mentioning of things of the past. Most importantly season one.
Tonight it was Missouri and it's been various other things this season.

I think this episode was the one who looked the most like a season 1 or season 2 episode. Straight MoTW with brothers' issues calls back to the case. I have no idea what the shout outs to season one things mean, but I'm liking it.

This one totally looked and felt a little like season 1 or 2. I just feel like there has to be a reason they are doing it, besides just... Oh man remember season 1? That was so awesome maybe if we wish hard enough and mention season 1 things we can go back in time and make it season one. LOL!

I agree. I think that's what I loved best in the episode. And the talking it out, they used to talk things out! I feel bad about this because I also miss Cas and would like to see him back - or his death properly dealt with (and I have loved the later seasons)- but I'm loving the feeling of getting back the show I fell in love with.

Jensen being so pretty doesn't hurt either.

Well at least they're still mentioning Cas, which is more than we can say for some other casualties of SPN! And I think when (not if!) Dean finally unloads, we will have much much more discussion abut him.

I think maybe there's so many fans that didn't get seasons 1 and 2 when they happened, maybe the TPTB are cashing in? Getting them to buy the DVDs? OMG, I'm so cynical. Hi Smilla! I'm like you, though. I'm digging it. Give me nostalgia.

HI! *draws hearts around you* How are you, honey?

[I'm digging the feel of season 1 and 2 as well.]

I got here via the internets, Lemmy. You should post more often and I'd come out of hiding. But remember John? I miss John. I'd trade seven Castiel's for one John in a coma. Sigh.

Smilla, I am well! I hate the move to Friday nights, though. I always forget, and then always feel like I'm missing something on Thursdays! I'm such a dinosaur.

Can I join the reunion! Hi! I'm definitely pondering the season 1 parallels too. I think it's about flipping Sam and Dean's roles around, and kind of seeing how that works out. Like in this ep, we've got Dean struggling to keep his shit together, and Sam put in the position of becoming the more together one. Of course, this is not what they're used to so it's totally rocky, and neither of them are having a very easy time stepping out of their comfort zones. But yeah, I think the point of going back to season one could be to show just how much they've changed. Which makes me panic a bit, in that it feels kind of final. Like final season final. EEEEEPP!

Holy Jinkies batman! Look at all you guys chatting away while I'm building linen closets. Oh man, I miss this. Let us do this more often.
I rewatched this morning with the coffees.... So hurry up Pink and get on the ball! I felt so bad for how lonely Dean was in the beginning. Then I thought who's gonna write something about the week and a half of him wandering around. *looks at smilla and i speak*

As for Cas, I'm with big. I miss John way more than Cas. Don't throw things at me if I say I thought he over stayed by a season.

had this same thought, expressed it on twitter, got more validation of YOU SHOULD DO IT and now I'm plotting. Happy? Poor Dean, so alone and sad. :(

John vs Cas, why does it have to be either/or. Why not getting both back?

Seriously, though, I loved Cas in season 4, a bit less in season 5 and then back to OMG at the end of season 6. I would love to see his storyline addressed better, somehow - while I think John's story is mostly closed. (Though to see Dean punching John in the face would be AWESOME!)
