I just finished watching Terminator 3. The ending was surprisingly dysphoric for a Hollywood movie and on the whole, I liked it much more than I thought possible. But then again, I'm far too susceptible to post-apocalyptic images. They worm inside my head, regardless of the source material and get their nasty, scratching claws right into my ( Read more... )

I swear it's like we share a brain. I'm exactly the same way when it comes to the post-apocalyptic. I'm drawn to it, but at the same time I find it completely unsettling. Virtually all of my nightmares have a post-apocalyptic backdrop and for awhile I had a reoccurring dream that I was in some post-apocalyptic world with Angel (who would probably be handy).

I loved Terminator 3 so much more than I expected to like it. In fact, I don't think I expected to like it all because T2 is my favorite and I just didn't see any way for them to measure up. Having the DVD, I find myself fast-forwarding through the really long chase scenes because they are boring. I don't mind the hackneyed dialogue because I just found the ending of this movie so deeply satisfying on an emotional level that I can overlook everything else.

So, who is Isobelle Carmody and are you waiting with bated breath for The Day After TomorrowIs it bad of me to admit that I've been thinking about reading the LeHayne books because they're post-apocalyptic even though I know ( ... )

I'm really not sure what I though of T3. I didn't hate it, and I did enjoy it, but I was a little shocked by the ending. I guess I've always seen the Terminator movies as about free will and determination triumphing over fate. T3 pulled the rug out from underneath us there. But, still, way, way better than I expected it would be, and I really did like the characters.
