Meme: WIPs

From notevery.

Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!I have lots of WIPs! :D Not all of these will be the actual first line of the finished fic (if they ever get finished, which is by no means certain). I'm not including fics that I'm sure that I'm ( Read more... )

No idea who Mary Lou is, but I want to know more. Also number 10. And number 2. Well, they're all intriguing, but those are my favorites. Here are random sentences from my three WIPs:

1. Jack sat back on his heels, heedless of the dust, and surveyed the corpse in front of him.
2. Tosh wished she could offer him a sympathetic pat, but her hands were full of Ianto’s ankles.
3. Still, her stomach is roiling and she's thrown up three times since she made it home last night, late again and with nothing but silence to offer Rhys.

Ianto's ankles! Love that line so much.

Hee! That's the TARDIS Big Bang one. I finally figured out the fucking plot. Pardon my language. It was giving me ulcers.

Hehe, Mary Lou -- well, I'm semi-ashamed to admit this, but I'm writing Malory Towers femslash (as in, I'm semi-ashamed of the Malory Towers bit, not the femslash). glinda_penguin mentioned that someone was doing it for thelittlebang, and I got plotbunnied -- although this won't be nearly long enough to qualify as a story for that challenge.

ETA: They are all brilliant opening lines, btw.

Oooh, they all sound intriguing.

Curious especially, about #5. That's er... hot already.

blue_fjords, I think I'm doing this meme as well, and Jack, Tosh and Rhys/Gwen are in mine also. ;)

Hmmm... #5 -- I'm not sure what I can tell you about that one without giving too much away. It's the beginning of a story that, if it gets written, might actually be quite involved (which is why I probably won't get around to writing it for a while).

Let's just say that that scene is a dream that's not a dream.

Nnnnnnn - so much intrigue here! I look forward to the potential posting of any of it. :)

Well, I'll no doubt finish one or two of them eventually.

#3 is the Ginny/Tonks fic, btw.

I gotta say - I love your fic in general, as you know, but the G/T is something I am way too excited about. ♥

Yeah, I really hope I can pull it off -- the whole Tonks running off after Remus thing is still bothering me though. I think I'm managing to work the whole "magical marriage bond" thing in, but I'm not sure how well it's going. I need to somehow account for how it operates when Remus tries to leave Tonks -- does he manage to "trick" the bond somehow, using the pretext of helping Harry as an excuse, but then when Harry mentions Tonks he inadvertantly pulls it back into action, or something? *sigh*

And damn, Remus is a right bastard.

I've also been toying with the idea of a post-epilogue Luna/Hermione fic.

Ooh, Sarah Janes! Mary Lou! And #4 is wonderful; I think there aren't enough convincing descriptions of how Jack feels wrong to the Doctor. More yes please!

I'll throw in a couple:
1. Bits of alien tech keep surfacing in the general flotsam of Europe’s black markets, and Torchwood is not above currying favor with the new Cold War régime by making him scratch for other forms of intelligence.
2. Jack wonders what his team would say if he explained that right into his thirties, he routinely slept with most of his co-workers, fellow-travelers, comrades-in-arms.
3. Jack sometimes forgets that a voyager trapped on land not his own is a lot like an unexploded bomb.

#2. If they're gorgeous enough? ;)

Those are great lines as well.

Now I'm excited about reading lots of new stories!

Ditto. I smell Jack backstory. It smells yummy.

Oh, yes, I really do hope that I finish writing #4 (not surprisingly, a Jack/Ten fic) at some point -- the problem with that it kept wanting a plot and I suck at plot!

ETA: I don't think the team would be surprised that Jack had slept with anybody! ;)

Hehe, yes, I am very bad at finishing fic. (#12 is still that Jack/Sarah Jane fic -- I will finish it sometime, I promise!)
