So, at the urging of some of the professors of UArts' film dept, I think I'm going to try to send my Magpie video to some festivals. My only hangup is that I have to get permission from Patrick Wolf's label first. I have their e-mail address, but I have no idea how to go about asking them.
Anyone have any ideas?

if possible, try to get patrick's personal email and not polydor's. labels usually will just make it harder for you and may take long to respond. if you do email polydor, just tell them you're a student at uarts and you're seeking permission to use some of their music in a short film that your professors have urged you to enter in some film festivals (they'll be flattered hopefully ;) ). my advice on corresponding with music biz/composers is to make it short, sweet, to the point and no fluff. link them to your vimeo. if they're cool they'll just want proper credit in it.

i agree about the idea of trying to contact patrick wolf directly rather than the label..i don't know much about him but does he have an official site where he blogs or a myspace page that he actually checks?
i honestly can't imagine him not being extremely moved and flattered by your interpretation of his song. and i'm so happy to hear you're going to try to get this some more exposure :)
