It's weird how I hate Martha Fiennes's Onegin movie, but don't bat an eyelash when I see Onegin/Lensky slash. *sigh*

I suppose you are right. The movie was supposed to be a faithful reproduction, which it in fact wasn't, whereas the fanfic even has a note of AU on it; there is no pretension about it.

I do hate that movie. XD I've yet to meet a Russian, who doesn't.
