“Yeah … thanks, Matt.” Alesha hung up and glanced at James. “Update on the Henry Harp case.”
“Henry Harp,” repeated their visitor, McCoy. “That brings back some bad memories.”
“How so?” James asked.
McCoy exhaled. “’97. Harp and his buddy, Earl Novak, rob a liquor store. On their way out, they’re confronted by an off-duty police officer … Harp’s shot, Novak shoots the officer. Kills him. Their car’s boxed in … so….” McCoy’s voice trailed off as he saw James’ and Alesha’s faces. “Another one?”
“Seems to be,” James allowed. McCoy sighed wearily.
“Why does every conversation with you take a turn through the Twilight Zone?”
