I'm not even american, but I feel the sudden need to hug you. Thank you for that, that is exactly what the world needs to hear. I have nothing but hatred left for that president of yours, and quite frankly I'm of the opinion that at the moment the most dangerous man in the world is currently also the most powerful one and he's sitting in the White House. There were a fair number of quotes from the speech he made a couple of days ago on the news on the radio over here, and I had to turn it off. It just made me shudder. The prejudice towards all things islam and the islam=terror messages were all too clear.

Well, actually... Most of Europe can't wait to see him gone.

And yet the American media carefully avoids all references to the term "holy war" and has ever since he started it.

It is rather disgusting and unsettling, isn't it? I just hope there isn't a third coup in 2008 and that we really will see the back of him.

He didn't win the election, once the balllots were counted. Gore did. Gore chose not to challenge it.

Why, though, should it be okay for Jo to keep her stuff with her but I have to check mine? I totally disagree with the rule, but I'm not cool enough to be able to get away with it. She should have taken the boat. Seriously. I love her, but a rule is a rule is a rule and if I have to abide by it, so should everyone else.

I guess I'm confused about what rule she was supposedly breaking by keeping her manuscript with her as carry-on. ??? It's not like ALL items were banned from being carry-on. If someone can take a newspaper, or a crossword puzzle book, or the latest paperback, then how is a manuscript different?

Oh, and Larilee, I would just like to give you a very emphatic high five, darlin. *Woot!* And, in case anyone ever asks me, I'll just point them in your direction and say, "Um, what she said! Seriously, she said it all best..." :)

I really don't want to use my LJ as a political forum, but sometimes I can't help myself. Besides, I have all these great icons. :-)

You just said what I wanted to say, so I guess I'll just say "Yeah, what Pern said and what Larilee said...". I didn't vote for him either time, and have been so frustrated with everything I've seen happening under his watch.*sigh* I just hope there's something left of our country to salvage when his reign...excuse me, I meant term, is over.

lol, I'm pretty sure Stephen King mentioned it to her. :-) I took it to mean that these were things she thought about while she was in New York City and wrote them down, though I'm surprised she doesn't use a laptop.

I agree that celebrities shouldn’t get special privileges, but I thought this was utter nonsense when I heard it. As hubby commented at the time, “Why would JKR want to hide a bomb in her manuscript?” LOL They really do need to improve their profiling.

When I last flew domestic, a few days after the new regulations were in place, I was allowed on with my whole suite of electronics, but the poor lady in front of me had to surrender her custom made, orthopedic shoe inserts because the rubber was too soft around the edges. My significantly softer rubber laptop computer padding was never an issue though. Go figure. And no, I did not feel significantly safer watching her limp her way on and off the plane.

And I'm thrilled, BTW, that you're writing again!
Hope your mothers appointment went well.

The rules are ridiculous. I never mind following rules that make sense, but I do balk at the ones that are stupid. No sealed beverages?

Mom has been discharged to "as needed" basis for her return! Which is really good news. :-) Though I will miss our lunches out.

"Should you change horses in the middle of the Apocalypse?"

Um, well, yes, if you find you're flogging a dead mule. ;-)

Especially when the horse is the one who got you in the middle of the Apocalypse against your will. :-)
