It's one of the great tragedies that I only discovered Stéphane AFTER his competitive career was over and done with. And after Champions on Ice kicked the bucket. So many missed opportunities. ;________;

Awww, don't be sad, I'm sure he'll be skating in shows and galas for many years. He has a lot of passions to express on the ice.

I just wish that I could retroactively go back and stan him from say 2004 on. I ALSO WISH WITH THE FIRE OF THOUSAND SUNS I COULD GO TO THE LA SHOW.

I feel like I always had the potential to love ice skating, it's just that people kept trying to sell me on ladies skaters and that's usually not quite my cup of tea.

I agonized about whether to go to ATSLA (just ask crossthefingers), but I'm already flying to the West Coast for SkateAmerica in November, and it would just be too much. I had been hoping that Yu-Na would use some of her money and start producing Asian-style shows here, and now, it's started. If this show is successful, I can see Yu-Na and her mother bringing it to the East Coast (where the Kween is at Tufts), or at least doing another one in LA in 2011, which I will fly out to see.

You crack me up. I always liked mens, pairs and women, but it took ontd_skating to give me an appreciation for ice dance.

(Is there no way you can fly to LA for ATS? There is a group of flying in from all over and probably rooming together.)

LOLS, threading fail! I'm glad I stopped by again. I just don't care for ladies' single skating most of the time. I can't explain why! Maybe I turned sour after the Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding debacle when I was growing up. (I'd never even heard about ice dancing until the Russian Aboriginals controversy in the most recent Olympics. Now I'm in total love. So pretty and also bizarre!) Previously I just really loved pairs and watching videos of past Russian male skaters like Ilya Kulich and Viktor Petrenko.

ANYWAY. No, there's no way to get to LA. I mean I COULD do it, I guess but it wouldn't make the best sense financially. And the VERY next weekend is a friend's wedding in San Diego that I decided that I cannot go to. I would feel like the WORST person if I was in Cali just days before her wedding. I definitely can't afford the bad karma! :P

Sorry about the thread fail! I also remember watching, fascinated, while the Harding/Kerrigan story unfolded.

It does sound like ATSLA simply won't work with your schedule. I really hope it gets televised.
