the sound you hear is the sound of my impostor syndrome shattering to bits

Nov 21, 2011 22:14

I mean, I've no doubt it will reassemble itself soonish, but at the moment UNI IS WONDERFUL, MY SHORT STUPID RESEARCH PAPER IS WONDERFUL and I AM EVEN MORE WONDERFUL, so, to celebrate that, let's do that meme!

Pick the numbers, see the pigeon squeal or something. I miss Anya. )

9, 24, and 43.

And I am...fuzzy-headed. I don't know. I feel like the way I feel when I don't take my anti-depressant, but I am taking it, so I don't know why I'm all dizzy and tired. Ugh. But other than that I am just fine!

I know what you mean about invasiveness--I wouldn't feel weird if someone asked me, but I know that there are people who would feel uncomfortable. I've avoided it.

Eugh, I'm so sorry about the fuzzy-headedness! It is a deeply annoying state to be in, and it tends to inevitably come with November for me. (I hate November so much. I like autumn, inevitable mood-swings and rheuma and all, because it just feels so dynamic and kind of epic, with all the leaves. But there's no more trees or colours in November, and there's no snow yet either, and in conclusion, blech.)

[Question order re-arranged because I like to end my comments on a positive note rather than panicky.]

24. My future plans.
Omg um. Erk. Well, there is going to be money, there may be some sort of emigration, there might be PhDs, there is probably going to be some angst and hopefully, at some point, a German Shepherd and/or a spouse.

43. What's currently worrying me the most. The short stupid research paper mentioned above is going to have to presented in front of people on Saturday, and I've procrastinated it to a point of ludicrousness, so, that's a pretty big black soul-sucky point of vast panic atm. I don't have so much issue with ( ... )

13. What I did yesterday.
Accidentally did a large bit of my panicky research paper and had a heady rush of "why, yes, I do rock" awareness, so, overall, it was a good day.

17. What I find attractive.
Shyness. Kindness. Braces. Humility. Diligence. Sensuality. Passion. All the things I don't have, basically. (Well, I do have kindness, I think, or, at least, I'm working on it.)

36. What I'm really excellent at.
Analysis, of problems, of art, of people. Clarifying things. Verbally defining things. Also, I feel I'm good at finding the balance between idealism and nihilist conformism, so, yay!

also, okay, to be perfectly honest, at the moment, what I find attractive is also people who are subs, though that's mostly a fiction-based thing. (Because you can't really tell which IRL people are subs, can you.)

See before I clicked the cut I thought you were asking us questions. Then I clicked the link and thought: 'That is a lot of questions.' And then I saw your first comment and understanding blossomed ( ... )

Flapjacks are amazing. Friend-worries... I don't actually have them much, but then I am a little bit cruel and selfish in my friendships. (Like, my friends mean the world to me but at the same time I kind of expect them to tell me if I'm doing something wrong AND ALSO to basically wait me out with infinite patience. If it helps, I do do the same for them). School-worries, now, they are intimately familiar to me, and I'm sorry you have them. Good luck with getting a first! As far as I know, firsts are haaaard, so, go you for going for it! <3

I have a lot of awe for people who write essays with any kind of regularness. WORDS ARE HARD OKAY.

04. My best first date.
I haven't actually dated - the one amorous thing I did have skipped the dating part and headfirsted into the kissing and meaningful relationship discussion stadium, which, while it saved a lot of time, also cut down on the amount of kissing, so, I dunno, I don't actually recommend it.

See 24 above.

42. My relationship with my siblings.My brothers are awesome. They're 11 and ( ... )

Ah see me and The Boyfriend lived across from one another in first year at uni. So we didn't really do dating persay. Actually we only ended up having a 'date' after about three-four months of relationship and we only decided that it was a date half way through. I don't know, the whole concept of intentionally setting up a date seems in some ways very weird to me, sort of artificial and if you don't know them I can see it rapidly descending into a sort of interview. But that's just me. Also I think we managed to fit in quite a bit of kissing along the way ( ... )

this is a very. hm. angsty meme. like, if you want to compose a set that you'll feel comfortable asking a flister you don't know personally with, and cut out stuff like 'favorite ice-cream, you don't have a lot to work with? hm.

anyway! 6, 14, 17 :)

Isn't it? It's hilarious levels of passive-aggressive, so there's "lol, your favourite animal" and "WHAT'S THE WORST THING THAT'S EVER HAPPENED TO YOU :)" next to each other. I think I kind of love the irreverence. [Besides, everyone can choose which questions to ask based on how intimate they are with the memer. The system saves itself]

BUT ALSO, GUESS WHAT, I HAVE TO GO NOW. I have... lectures until 10 pm. It's one of those days. Eugh. I've already answered 17 above, so, enjoy that until I get home to do the rest.

HOME!

Okay!

6. Who my best friends are.

She is basically Diana Wynne Jones at heart.

He is deeply smitten by Oscar Wilde and, hilariously, fifties fashion.

She wants to become either Alan Turing or a stay-at-home mum.

He is... BBC!Mycroft, actually. Also, unrelatedly, the hottest man on earth.

She has an unhealthy obsession with some dude called Psmith.

Together? We fight crime.

OH, and there's also "She makes the best Poseidon porn" but that's never been officialised. Officialisation is done by people sending/giving/making me stuff, because I AM just that greedy.

(Also, it would have ruined my lovely pronoun symmetry thing.)
