My feeling is that I'm glad it exists for that time in the far away future when I do do a re read. Have fun and remember to eat!

Its just I'm torn. I quite enjoyed watching the series while barely remembering the books. And I really enjoyed the extra character stuff for people like Cersei. So I don't want to re read the books and be disappointed. But equally I'm worried that if I do reread them I'll then start JUDGING the series for what they leave out. I don't want to be that person anymore! :-)

I LOVELOVELOOOOVE the series although I am very well-versed in the books. It's just, you need to mentally separate them (like RTD era Who fromm Moff era Who) for maximum enjoyment. It helps that Peter Dinklage is sex on legs and that they are about equally enjoyable to me, albeit in different ways (unlike abovementioned eras of Who.)

Plus there, a general kind of balance. For example, tv!Petyr is dollops better than book!Petyr, whereas tv!Ned is wya meh compared to book!Ned.

ADwD is... I don't know. It helps if you don't entirely hate Theon Greyjoy. And if you understand that GRRM is the biggest troll this side of 4chan. But if you wanna wait, that may be wise too.
