Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma

Dec 08, 2011 22:05

If you're friends with me elsewhere (Ravelry or Facebook) you've already seen this, but for my LJ-only friends, here it is:

I have thyroid cancer. )

real life, life is a bitch and then you die, health, cancer

I don't know how the fuck I managed to miss this on Rav. But all the mojo! If you have to have cancer, it sounds like this is the (a?) kind to have.

It must have been terribly difficult to concentrate for the rest of your work day after receiving that phone call. Best wishes for good, supportive medical treatment and an uneventful healing process.

It's lucky for me that I get so engrossed in teaching, so it actually wasn't hard for me to keep my mind off it once I got rolling.

Thanks for your good thoughts!

I'm afraid we've not met, but I've seen your work and admired it, and so I've come to your LJ to look for more. Then I saw this.

Please forgive me for being intrusive, but I wanted to say that my mother had thyroid cancer, presenting in a very similar fashion to yours. She went through surgery and radiation and balancing her synthyroid (a tough-ish four or five months), but she has been well for eight years now, and even at seventy-four shows little sign of slowing down.

I wish you all the best with your surgery, and recovery, and may it be swift and negligible.

I look forward to seeing more of your charming art.

Thanks so much for your comment! I'm so glad that your mom is doing well. I really do like hearing other people's survivor stories.

I'm under a lot of stress right now so I haven't been doing much artwork, but there will be more :)

I can only imagine your stress levels, but I look forward to the time you're inspired again.

Thank you for not being offended.
