I think it's great that you volunteer for the Red Cross. It's times like this that people really need and appreciate what you do.
I hope your own water damage is minimal. I had a pipe break and flood an apartment once at 2 AM, and my hot water heater let go in my condo (on Rosh Hashana when I was supposed to be singing in Temple, no less) and I had to replace a carpet, but that's thankfully about it.
I enjoy reading your journal.

So long as the ceiling doesn't collapse, it'll just cost me money. If the ceiling collapses, though, then I'll have a much bigger problem!

Actually, you might like the leaky roof...you could catch the water drops on your tongue or through your paws through them. :-)
