*standing ovation*

You summed up everything I felt about this episode perfectly. I seriously could barely watch Luka's death because it was so disturbing. And Jonas watching his teenage son burn to death right in front of him? Even if he'd killed Matt (who I love and tried to make me cry with his reaction to Caroline's confession) I don't think I could have held it against him. I'm surprised he didn't just level Mystic Falls altogether.

Thanks, bb.

My heart just kind of hurts - I don't even know with this show. Luka's death was horrifying to me.

Nope. Like I said on my Tumblr, if the goal was for me to hate the Martins, then show failed miserably. What Jonas did is exactly what Shelia 1.) did and 2.) threatened to do. She didn't invite "good" Salvatore brother in until he had news about how to save her granddaughter. Shelia's family was #1 for her, and like I said last week, I'd extend that to witches in general. Lucy said the same thing about not wanting to be wrapped up in Vampire intrigue, and had to be because of Katherine--that's why she made Katherine say she wasn't beholden to her anymore, multiple times, because Katherine's shady like that. And then Bree's dead, for what? Because Damon threw a hissy? Are we serious? So when Jonas said the Vamps were the enemy...I was all but nodding with him ( ... )

Yes, yes, yes to everything. This matter of perspective with this show - when the characters we're 'supposed' to root for show such inconsistency and just fail on so many levels, I don't understand why I should even bother to care for them. From everything we've seen, these vampires have treated witches like crap - every single witch that has appeared on this show has been beholden and subject to them in some way. And I cannot support that kind of nonsense. I miss Sheila so damn much.

This. It's now to the point where they aren't even being obtuse, they are just being stupid and cowardly. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the original massacre wasn't a slave revolt - or perhaps the wannabe founders came upon a town of witches, living in relative harmony, and decided to destroy it. We won't get that story. Honestly, Katherine has pretty much lost me. Thankfully, she isn't a Damon, who expects me to pity her. But knowing she did that to Emily - Emily Bennett, it hurts ( ... )

Jeremy's function is to keep Bonnie loyal to Elena/Vampires. Without that root, she could wake up and see how shady all involved are, including her BFFs.

And like you said--why are we hearing about Bonnie's angst from people who are not Bonnie? We saw Caroline deal with the fallout of turning into a Vampire. We saw Tyler dealing with the fallout of becoming a Were. But we see shit-all about Bonnie dealing with the fallout of being a witch. Hell, even Jeremy got more exposition from his PoV and last year he was barely relevant.

Bonnie is a tool just like her slave/witch ancestors.

Why is Bonnie so damn loyal to them?

THIS QUESTION ABOVE ALL OTHERS! Bonnie should get the fuck out of dodge. She should have left with Tyler and I would watch the hell out of that show okay!

I wish Bonnie wasn't so isolated.

Why is Bonnie so damn loyal to them? She really does need guidance, and not theirs. They don't care about her, and Jeremy doesn't care about others like her. He's almost turning into those type of white people who hold contempt for minorities except for one because "that person's not like the others" and that's making me screwface hard.

you hit the nail on the head! WORD WORD SO HARD!

Everything you've said here is why I still maintain and will always maintain that Smallville---even with all it's plot holes and pandering and nonsense from time to time---is still a better show with more heroic, sincere, heartfelt, relatable characters ( ... )

I agree with you completely. SV has its faults and they're totally different shows, but you've always said it so well, that even with all the alien/superhero/sci-fi stuff, it has heart where TVD often misses the mark ( ... )

Here's the difference between you and other people: you see the latent racism present in this narrative. And now, that we see it....we can't un-see it. Yet, we live in a world where sometimes it can feel like you are screaming at the top of your lunges like.....doesn't everyone see it? Why doesn't everyone see the problem with this? But we live in a world where people DON'T see these things. And sometimes, even when you point them out....they still remain blind ( ... )

I am not blind to the way our media and popculture often stacks the deck in certain ways. My eyes have been opened. When I see a television show with an all white cast...I notice. When I see a show systematically kill off every single black character on the freaking show...I notice. And I question. And I want to scream at the top of my lungs...why doesn't everyone else see this? I can't be the only one who sees this. Just as I want to yell and scream about the way it still seems to be ok to use women as plot devices and brutally kill them off in narratives just as a man to cause a man pain and "growth" throughout a story. But it can feel like you are screaming and no one is listening ( ... )

I was really disturbed by Luka's death. It was horrible and gruesome and...yeah I just kind of sat there in shock. :/

Me too, me too.

I honestly couldn't figure out what to do - and then Matt nearly died and Jonas actually died and I was just like, is this real? What is going on??

Preach and if you are crazy then you shall find me in the loony bin as well ( ... )

The loony bin is clearly the best place to be when it comes to this show and the epicosity of its fail.

I think Elena's better than Bella Swan but I'm so incredibly frustrated with her character, and so many of these characters sometimes - the second half of this season, just ugh.

I can't believe how careless the writing on this show can be. How they can throw away arcs like this, and then attempt to mollify the audience with the promise that Bonnie knows theh secret to killing Klaus - but in the end, that doesn't negate the fact that they've failed where the writing is concerned. This show sometimes.
