I think the conservs and the liberals are crazy tooladyariadneNovember 4 2008, 21:00:20 UTC
but...
complete and utter deregulation of everything, along with complete and utter non interference in everything... is not the way either.
that idea is what led to the superfund sites.
and the atrocities of the textile mills...
because there was no "interference"
now has govt gotten too big? yes.
But from what the libertarians promote as their issues up here anyway, and like Bob barr, they are promoting bunches of really stupid stuff that make people twitch rather then easing back to what it should be.
If we had not the gridlock we did have a lot more shit would have been passed that would bring this matnion more to the HANDMAIDS TALE state of living.
That is the one advantage of Gridlock. Not much can get steam rolled through quite as easily.
All blue everywhere is just as bad as all red.
The contry is not going to fair any better under the new admin. (or Mcain either if he had won)
Such cynicism.. gridlock doesn't solve anything, it just means status quo.. if you think that there's problems that need solving, that the status quo is NOT acceptable, then gridlock is the last thing that rationally one could want.
I get that you're fearful of the change that Obama's administration may bring, but change is necessary to bring about improvements. This country badly needs change in certain ways. At least we have hope that things will move in the right direction, now.
no... its not simple change that I am fearful of. It is the social carte blanche socialism i am not fond of that he signifies. I hope he is smart enought ot realize we cant afford it, but being as far left as he is and not moderate...
so if it is that kind of change then yes I am fearful of it. I cant afford that kind of change.
Gridlock is not status quo. Gridlock means if its REALLY important then it gets passed, but not every tom dick and harry thing gets through on partisian polotics.
to me gridlock is a set of checks and balances so not every feel good unfunded mandate or funded through my paycheck gets passed.
I dont want to be paying for the world and everyone else in it. And IMO, that is the fiscally bad side of Democrats.
