"We've always allowed visitors to come and watch whenever we're holding an esbath. Sometimes they're even allowed at sabbaths. They're only not allowed at the meetings that happen several times in a year. That's for members only. Initiates, priests and priestesses, and the high priests and priestesses."

"You don't really talk much about it, though," she remarked when she suddenly realized that Soulfire never had spoken about her past, what she had done or anything about the group she belonged to. "And what are you? In that... group of yours. What was it again?"

The witch turned for a moment to smile at Dayenne. It was a smile that was oddly wistful and possessing a wisdom that did not seem to match her youthful appearance. As if she had seen more years than her appearance gave away.
"I am a priestess of the Lady of the Moon," she then said. "There is only one high priest and one high priestess per coven. I could, if I wanted, start my own coven. But..."
