I am having sudden sushi cravings, doubtless as a result of stumbling across reviews of an apparently excellent sushi takeaway place inconveniently located on the UWS. Now I'm trying to decide if it's worth taking a local train most of the way home and/or doing multiple transfers in order to get a pre-dinner snack.

want!, sushi, food

The Upper West Side is quite convenient for some of us *rolls eyes innocently* What's the name of the restaurant?

Mmmmmm, sushi.

It's Saji's, on 109th between Broadway and Amsterdam. Ever tried it? And if not, or if you have and liked it, would you like to join me? Amy is in a not-liking-sushi phase at the moment, alas, and I am firmly of the opinion that the best way to eat sushi is to order lots of different things and share them about.

The reviews say the ambiance is less than enjoyable, but we could always sit in the park, or failing that, get back on a train and head up to my place. 3WA sushi picnic, perhaps?

I haven't heard of this place before -- in that neighborhood I usually go to Tomo on Broadway and 111, but I am always up for new sushi. The next two weeks are pretty slammed for me, but maybe we could try for a sushi night later in September.

I managed to cajole Amy into sushi for dinner last night, despite her grumping, and I am pleased to report that it was excellent. Thirteen bucks scored us more sushi than we could eat (I just finished the leftovers) and a large container of the best miso soup I have ever tasted. Their wasabi packs a serious kick, too.
