Health and Happiness

I've been hesitant to post much about this in fear it might jinx my progress, but I'm really proud of my diligence.

In the last 4 years I've gained some crazy amount of weight. Maybe as much as 30-40% increase from before I started at Speakeasy. Nothing to blame other than my own laziness, lack of attention, getting older, sedentary work ( Read more... )

Keep it up!

I tend to put local over organic actually, but that is just me.

Its not easy, but I'm wishing you strength and fortitude. Sodas are a bitch. I gave them up before BM (diet only) but its something you miss less and less as time goes by.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Soda wasn't too hard to give up. Although I'll admit I still use it as a mixer when drinking, but that's all part of the weekend thing I need to figure out anyways.

Most of the organic foods that Amazon carries, at least fruit/veggie wise, tend to be from the Northwest. I've been trying to keep my eye out for primarily local stuff in addition to it being just organic. I also have a friend I just recently found out runs a farm, and would even deliver. But it's even more expensive it seems so I haven't made the jump yet.

that's awesome kyle! 15% is AMAZING. seriously you've made such strides. there is no jinx to be had here. it's just dedication. i think the best thing is that you aren't even talking about it as a diet, but rather just living a healthier lifestyle. the weight will just continue to come off as it has. in my opinion i wouldnt stress on buying organic all the time. while i too try to buy organic when possible there are definitely times where i wont pay the extra amount.

that's hardcore! it's really hard to make major changes like that. but omg, you eat 1500 or less calories a day, and pretty close to the same thing? i'd go nuts. i'm so much better at working out more and eating more vs. dieting.

when i had more money, i'd order food from places like http://www.luckypalate.com & http://www.sunshinesallnaturals.com and bring that as my lunch... not incredibly cheap, but tasty!

i was vegan for awhile earlier this year and highly recommend veganomicon

What I eat will change over time. There are only so many veggie sammiches I can have before they finally get to me.I'm constantly looking for alternatives for the main course of a meal. The veggies and fruit get swapped out depending on what has good prices (and generally in season). I'm on a financial diet as well. Eating fresh/non-processed foods every day is actually a little more expensive on the grocery budget, though my eating-out budget has decreased a lot ( ... )
