Why do my birds decide to get hurt or die the day before biochem tests? Sunny just decided to pull out a blood feather. This is the second time he has done it. I try and catch them but I miss them sometimes. This one is a lot worse than last time. He lost a lot of blood. I am trying to patch him up but that means I will have to keep a close ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about that, hope your bird heals up and learns this time that that is not something it should do. I'll be up all night myself but only because rendering 3d animation takes FOREVER. Why do your birds keep trying to kill themselves btw? Is it some kind of nervous tick of the breed?

Well...the first one was egg binding. This one was caused by it hitting or picking at a blood feather ( ... )

I have to wonder if they're "picking up" on your stress that you feel approaching exams? They way they're behaving is often caused by stress. Do your habits at home change a lot around exam time? (Home less, home more, birds out less, up later with lights on more, etc?)

(I'm not blaming you, by the way.)

I don't know. I thought about that actually. I try to put them to bed about the same time each day and feed them at the same time and not bug them too much. Who knows.
