Oh no!! I'm so sorry to hear that. And she's not just a bird, birds are just as awesome as dogs and cats and totally as easy to get attached to - you're not foolish. ♥♥♥
At least you got to be with her when she passed away, I'm sure she was happy that you were there. ♥
total heartscore from me here. pets dying are usually harder than people -- we spend more time with them, indirectly. and birds are awesome and just as affectionate as any cat or dog I know. don't let anyone give you heck or slough it off.
Yup. We always had budgies growing up [and cats, too -- go figure]. Then I [briefly] had a cockatiel in my 'adult' years, until my roommate killed it. I thought I had told you that story before, so I didn't broach it again. But yes, boo. Birdies are adorable.
Some people are just more in touch and comfortable with their emotions than others. I'd say it's a healthy sign, even a sign of superiority that you could feel that way about a creature of a largely alien (different) species. Frankly I'd be more disturbed if you weren't upset. So yeah, no shame. It was a living creature, you formed a bond. It is that simple and a healthy sign of a good and caring nature. Anyone who ridicules you over it or looks down on you for it should go back to kindergarten as they have FAILED to become decent human beings. In summation, I hear your pain.
Animals will often mate even if there's no proper setup to raise the young, it's a trait they share with humans. I guess everyone really does like sex. I had to actually look what a bound egg was, I didn't know they could do that.

It was a risk letting them get together. And don't feel bad about not knowing what a bound egg is. I didn't before I had a bird.
Thanks for the support.
